This drawing of Bugs Bunny was inspired by a meme on officialworkmemes I came across a few days ago. That face with "or what" caption was just the right thing I needed to see at the moment - lately I've been trying to be more honest to myself and more direct with other people, and that's the type of attitude I've been trying to channel. 😉
Of course, I didn't want to copy the exact scene from the cartoon, so I changed it and drew him in my style. Bugs is one of my favourite characters, Warner Bros did an excellent job creating a free spirited, witty character who's often not afraid to break some stuck-up social norms. I need more determination and positivity like that in my life.

I'm back! There have been some health issues I had to take care of, plus work related stuff as usual, but now I'm on a summer break and hopefully there'll be enough time to draw more and put some other artistic plans into motion.
After this year's health check-up, it became obvious it was high time to regulate my weight in order to avoid possible more serious health problems. Beside the proper diet plan, I have to add more physical activity to my day and, taking my usual, permanent health issues into consideration, it turned out the top three activities would be walking, riding a bike and swimming.
So it's been a fun ride - pun intended - which I just had to put into one of my drawings! They say you never forget how to ride a bike, but let's just say I've fallen more this month than I have ever in my life! 🤦♂️ Hopefully I'll have more luck with walking and swimming. 🤣
There's also the matter of the scorching summer weather, which usually leaves its telltale sunburn marks in the shape of the shirts I wear to work, so I've been trying to even out the tan lines with the rest of the body by wearing tank tops etc. I also shaved my head, as I sometimes do during summer, but I basically exposed another problematic skin area I have to protect from the sun now.
As for the background, I'm trying out some abstract shapes and brushes in CSP again and I'm happy with the experiment so far. That also goes to my drawing of the bike - it may not be completely correct technically, but I believe it's pretty neat for my first try.
Have a nice, safe summer! 🌞

Sorry, still no new artwork from me, so I'm reusing my older drawings and reposting them together as part of a Kaijune Art Challenge. Not so clever, but as it's #throwbackthursday anyway, let me remind you of my other projects, such as drawing creatures and monsters.
Wycrona is from the Smaugust series and Armadillosaurus and Dinocorn are part of the Creatuanary series. I just came up with the idea to put them in the same drawing for Kaijune.

As usual, I'm celebrating the Global Running Day not by running or doing any other physical activity, but by drawing. In fact, not even drawing, but combining my two drawings from 2022 and 2023 into one.
Here are The Flash from the Arrowverse and Quicksilver from the MCU, my two favourite superhero speedsters. Happy Global Running Day! 🏃♂️

I decided to change my usual choice of mermaids for this year's MerMay Drawing Challenge, so this time I chose Mer-Man from Masters Of The Universe - the lord of the seas and one of Skeletor's minions and He-Man's opponents. There have been several versions of this character so far and this is my take on this iconic M.O.T.U. villain.

Go @the_baby_lasagna_, go Croatia! Vote and choose nr. 23 at @eurovision Grand Final tonight, meow back and dance the new viral dance!
There are so many incredible fanart pieces of Marko Purišić aka Baby Lasagna, so it was difficult to choose what exactly to draw. But as I was watching @drawfee stream "100 Garfs in 100 minutes", I thought, well, Garfield, lasagna... Marko has an orange cat named Stipe... so how about drawing Garf as a Baby Lasagna cosplayer? BTW, I'm currently at the best place to be during my birthday, in Zagreb at @sferakon sci-fi and fantasy convention and somehow all these pieces of my idea for today's fanart have come together!
So, good luck Marko and the whole team tonight! Meow cat please meow back! 😺

Happy Star Wars Day! May the Fourth Be With You!
I know I'm a day too late, but an urgent work project has been taking too much of my time and making me insanely busy lately, both at the workplace and at home during the weekends, even while I was on a sick leave. 😵💫
But then May 4 came and I said enough is enough, it's time to stop for a minute, smell a burning kyber crystal in a lightsaber and celebrate something that is more important than a dead-end job.
I chose Ahsoka Tano for this occasion and I hope I did a good job in such a short time. The background is a stylized sphere with her home planet Shili's colours.
BTW, it feels so good to draw again! 🥹

I didn't draw anything new for this year's Superhero Day (April 28). To be honest, I've been absent lately because of some health issues, so no new art from me, I'm afraid.
But there are collages of my previous works. I reused a collage of my Marvel characters from 2022 (which was originally posted in 2021) and added some of the latest characters. I even replaced some, especially when there was a character I drew more than once (such as Captain America, Captain Marvel or Scarlet Witch). Unfortunately, no collage from 2023, so there's a whole year of my new drawings. Hope you like the combination, I believe I've become some kind of an expert in creating collages like this one.
And I know it's a day strictly for superheroes, but I put almost every Marvel character from my gallery, both heroes and villains, many known and (maybe) some unknown.

Here's some papercraft I've done lately - more precisely, paper sunflowers for a work project. I promised myself I'd draw traditionally or make some crafts more often, but it looks like this is the best I've been able to do so far.
However, I don't think it's appropriate to show you the whole project, as I've been known to complain about my school every time I get a chance. If you follow me long enough, I guess you already know it's for a good reason - it's mostly about the inevitable interference of politics, constant bad management (talking about decades now!) and a lot of unhealthy ego issues... 😡 But all that aside, there's actually quite a number of brilliant colleagues who'll go beyond their usual obligations to make our students' experience not only educational but fun and memorable. I'm glad to have a team of such competent individuals when I need their help, as well as I'm available to participate in other colleagues' projects when they need mine. 🥰

Happy First Contact Day!
I wasn't sure what to draw for this important date in the Star Trek universe, so I chose one of the most significant scenes from the 1996 movie - or more precisely, only one character from that scene (plus a stylized image of the Vulcan ship for the background and a Vulcan logo for his shadow).
I didn't know it at that time, but the first Vulcan who was greeted by Cochrane was Solkar, the grandfather of Sarek and the great-grandfather of Spock! According to the same source, two other Vulcans in the background in that scene are T’Pau and Soval.

I missed a DTPIYS art challenge for March, but the poses were so good that I decided to use them for my next drawings, such as my GRDI-Verse project - so here's Marcia Larts, one of Davorachnid's allies or team members.
If she seems familiar, you're right, I've already drawn her before. It was for one of my character design challenges, where I use prompts from Jazza's Arty Games app, but I liked her so much that I decided to include her in my GRDI-Verse, on the good guys' side. I've drawn so many villains for this project that I need someone on my hero's side.

Here's a digital redraw of an unpublished drawing from two years ago. I tried using watercolour pencils and masking tape, but it turned out to be a disaster and I was disappointed with the whole process. Yet, for this Easter I decided to return to that drawing and do a better job digitally, because I loved the image and the effects. I'm still sad it's not a watercolour drawing as I had imagined it, but... maybe one day.

I've been lazy this month, I've barely drawn anything. 😔 But in my defense, I've been preoccupied with two things: work (of course!) and bingeing Farscape (wait, what?). Yep, it's the 25th anniversary of this magnificent TV show, I've become obsessed with it like it's 1999 again and I wanted to draw something from it. So here's a random face shape challenge with probably the greatest sci-fi villain of them all, Scorpius!
I know this blast from the past deserves a much better drawing, but I decided to combine it with some random shapes I found online, hoping it'll be a more interesting choice than just characters in static poses that I usually draw. 🤔

Drawing backgrounds was never my strong suit. My drawing style is all over the place, but I kind of settled for character design with an empty background and occasionally a shadow or an oval representing a shadow. Still, it doesn't mean I gave up on the backgrounds completely.
I came across a video about negative space and how it can be easily used instead of a full-blown background. According to that theory, it can be almost anything, so I chose geometric shapes, mostly circles and rectangles. They're usually abstract or simplified but they're not always just random fillers - at least I'm trying to make a meaningful frame for the illustration when I can, tell some kind of a story if possible and I sometimes surprise myself with the ideas I come up with.
Here are some examples from this year.

As I mentioned in my monthly review, there was another illustration I finished in February, but it was for a competition that was still going on at the time, so I didn't want to post it before it was over. Well, now that it's over (and I didn't win anything), I guess it's as good a time as any to post it now. I had high hopes and I'm quite proud of the way it turned out, but you win some, you lose some.
I'm not the only one here losing the algorithm game, but to be honest, I'm not even playing it right. There are rules, but there are also other things many users do which I'm not ready to copy. One of them is show, don't tell, or more precisely: imply, don't explain.
I don't like to play such games - I usually post an illustration and then a description that often reaches the character limit. And apparently therein lies the problem: I write too much, explain everything and don't leave room for mystery and clickbaits, which seems to be a real key to success, according to some more clever artists.
Many of them just post their work and write little or nothing because they know their followers would be curious, leave tons of comments and in doing so boost engagement on their post, making it seem more relevant than it originally was. If you want to find out anything, you're forced to go through the comments and maybe leave your own, just adding to that post's popularity and putting it on the algorithm's nice list.
I've seen it too many times and I'm not going to throw names, but there are some very popular users among them. That's also the reason why they appear more often in my feed, but when I see the cryptic nature of their posts, hundreds of pointless comments without direct answers and then tons of likes, I realize how unfair this game really is.
What I sometimes do is deliberately make small "mistakes" in my drawings or write something that could be considered somewhat provocative or controversial, but even then there are no reactions at all, people probably don't read long posts. At this point I feel like I could get away with posting just about anything.
And although I claim I'm doing all this only for myself, it makes me wonder over and over again: Is my "art" good enough? I believe I've had some surprisingly good ideas throughout the years, but they haven't been noticed because I don't play such silly games.

My monthly review: February 2024
• A stylus for one of my tablets stopped working so I got a new one. I wasn't worried much because it was for my PC and I've been drawing on my Galaxy tablet since I got it anyway, so the PC became my backup plan (plus the mini Huion tablet I can use with my laptop), but it's useful with more complex projects (for example my latest digital art collage).
• That's right, I finished the collage of my digital drawings from 2016-2019 just as I planned. It was challenging to fit all those characters I had drawn over the period of four years in one collage and the final result looks great. 🏆
• Webruary (Spider-Man related art challenge) was the only challenge I took part in. There are three drawings: my OC Davorachnid and two Spider-Women from the movie "Madame Web". I skipped Styluary this year. 🕸
• I wrote a poem about my workplace and also drew a depiction of how I look at the current issues. Nothing positive, I'm afraid. 🤷♂️
• I made an illustration inspired by Paul Wetz's video for his latest hit "Ode an den Bass". He's a German singer, songwriter and producer whose music became my new obsession. 🎶
• I finally revived my comics account by posting three new episodes of Odd Yuckly! And there are more to come. 😉
• I continued posting Stories and Reels, but didn't work on my YouTube Shorts as I said I would, and I hesitate to post on TikTok because I just don't like the app. There are too many people I'd rather not have following me (especially work related), but somehow they keep popping up in my suggestions. 😭
• I was sure I'd find time to go back to traditional art techniques but it hasn't happened yet. 🎨
• I actually drew one more illustration before the end of the month, but it was for an art competition so I won't post it just yet. Let's see if luck is more benevolent than the Internet algorithm. 🤫

This is a post about a German singer, songwriter and producer Paul Wetz (@paulwetz) and his music. I found inspiration for this illustration in a video for his latest hit "Ode an den Bass".

I know I should be drawing something that's currently trending, such as Deadpool, Wolverine or Fantastic Four if I want to be seen by both the algorithm and the users, but here I go again with one of Marvel's step-parents, Sony, and their Spider-Man related Spider-Man-less movies.
I still don't know much about "Madame Web" except for an increasing pile of bad reviews, but I like the costumes and as I mentioned before, the trailer looked exciting enough to inspire me to draw something from it. This time it's another Spider-Woman, Mattie Franklin, played by Celeste O'Connor. She looked great in those short scenes and I was especially impressed by the parts of her costume that looked like Iron Spider robotic legs.
I know I'll eventually watch the movie and create my own opinion, but for now let's just enjoy the art. The trailer didn't show the whole costume, so I had to improvise when I was drawing her gloves and boots. The pose reference is from @theposearchives.

I'm interrupting my regular schedule to post my poem inspired by the divergent runner maze hunger games of thrones at my workplace. 😒
This poem is also dedicated to some of the best people I've ever had honour to share the trials and tribulations of this clusterf*** of a job with. Others may attack you and try to cancel you, but as long as your heart is pure and your fight is just, you are the winners in my book. 🏆
BTW, although it wasn't my initial intent, this post conveniently coincided with the Croatian educators and scientists' protest against the Government's new regulations. I guess the s*** hit the fan on multiple fronts.
Oda mojem zvanju
I'm not sure if there's an official Webruary prompt list this year, but I've decided to draw some Spider-People this month anyway.
I started with Davorachnid, my OC I haven't drawn for a while (which is kind of surprising!). I came across some cool clothing ads and they gave me an idea to try to adjust his costume a little bit. I changed the chest part, gave him some modern pants and sneakers. Basically, I added laces all over my design and although it looked cool in the ads, somehow it's not quite working for my drawing. 🤔 Either I expected something different, or I wasn't skilled enough to make it work for my final design.
But I still hope it's a worthy addition to my favourite OC's gallery and, of course, I'll keep playing with this design in the future. I'm glad the general looks and the palette are established, everything else are just small modifications. The pose reference is again from @theposearchives.

I finally finished a collage of my digital drawings from 2016-2019! I started making these "art collages" in 2020 instead of the "Art vs. Artist" challenge, so I decided to get back to my drawings older than 2020 and put them together in my new style. At that time I was experimenting with different art techniques (traditional drawings, papercraft, polymer clay, cosplay accessories etc.), so I didn't have as many digital drawings - or at least I thought so when I started this collage. 😄
I started drawing digitally in Paint Shop Pro, then moved to Inkscape and Photoshop, but now everything I do is in Clip Studio Paint. For this collage I chose as many drawings from that period that could fit my template, but as they were drawn in different programs, it took me more time than I had expected to add the features I've been using since then, such as black and white outlines, rim lighting etc. Some of them were pretty pixelated because I could work on final, resized versions, but it's OK because the result looks so crammed that you can't even notice. 😉
As for the choice of themes, there's been almost everything, from superheroes, sci-fi, fantasy and horror franchises, to pop culture, art challenges and personal projects - basically everything I'm doing right now. Should I ask how many you can recognize? 😄

My monthly review: January 2024
We've barely set foot in 2024, so it's too early to revisit New Year's resolutions, but let me just check if I'm on the right track. Job? Ugh, the same battle royale bull***t as usual. 😒 Health? Not a very good start as I got one of the most severe episodes of sciatica and I can barely move until the pain subsides. 😡 Art? Well, I believe I made some progress. 🤔
• I tried to participate in the Fanuary art challenge as much as possible, which was still pretty weak (only 6 out of 31 drawings), but I finally drew some fanart I've been putting off for years! Thanks to the prompts by @tonycartoonish, I started the year with The Marvels: Carol, Monica and Kamala, then Blue Beetle (DC), Jaylah (Star Trek), Guillotine, Magik and Captain Carter (all three Marvel); also big thanks to @theposearchives for all the references! And after all that I even managed to squeeze in a creature design, fictional bugs called "stinkachios".
• I also decided to work on my Insta stories and Reels, trying to please the algorithm gods if possible and there actually have been a few new followers! I've been using CapCut for a while and I can honestly recommend that video editing program.
• I still haven't tried other art techniques and I've been lazy with the new webomics, although I believe I have a few interesting ideas.

#digitaldrawing #mymonthlyreview #january2024 #grdilicious #grdi
I know, after all the characters I've been drawing this whole month - are these... bugs?! Well, I never said I'd draw only people, I'm ready to draw anything that ignites that creative spark. That's why my gallery is inconsistent and it may be one of the reasons why it's so hard to get likes and new followers. And if you look closely, it gets even weirder: they're not ordinary bugs - I call them "stinkachios".
It's true, the inspiration often comes when you least expect it. I combined my love for pistachios and the inevitability of stinkbugs - there's time when they're literally everywhere, sometimes I think I should be charging them rent because they're practically my roommates. But it's become normal from time to time (depending on seasons) and I don't mind them that much. If you're careful enough, you can scoop them and release them outside without much fuss.
So one day I thought I saw one of them on the floor, but then, after remembering I'd eaten some pistachios the evening before, for a brief moment I wasn't sure if it was a stinkbug or a pistachio. 🤣 And so this idea was born, they became some kind of bugs mimicking pistachios. Although the original idea came from stinkbugs, I also used other insects as a reference, such as ladybugs. I wanted to create a bug that would use two sets of wings, the outer ones being pistachio shells.
And another thing - you may have noticed I didn't draw Armadillosaurus or Dinocorn for this year's art challenge Creatuanary. I wanted to take a break from my usual creations and stinkachios were supposed to serve as a new Creatuanary post, but then I read the rules again and they didn't fit any of the prompts, so I decided to just let it go this year.
I know it may seem gross, but I hope you like this idea as much as I had fun bringing it to life. I may even include them in my GRDI-Verse project.

Captain Carter is my last drawing for this year's first art challenge, Fanuary. The rule was to draw fanart of your favourite characters each day of January, inspired by that day's prompt but I managed to draw only six. I'm sorry I can't fully participate in creative challenges like this one (the main obstacle is my everyday job), but I'm happy I got to draw at least some of the prompts and believe me, I gave my best to show my skills, even made accompanying stories and reels, which I rarely do. I know 6 out of 31 aren't much, but they mean much to me - it's my way to get into that creative mode and unwind after an exhausting day, it's some kind of a therapy for my mental health in these trying times.
So, today's prompt WARRIOR gave me the opportunity to draw Marvel's Captain Carter, another character I've been planning to draw for years. She comes from an alternate storyline, where Peggy Carter takes the Super Soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers and becomes the hero known as Captain Carter; she's basically Captain America in another universe. She appeared in the comics, the animated Disney+ show "What If...?" and the movie Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. Captain America is one of my most favourite Marvel superheroes, but I've already drawn him a few times, so I decided to go with Peggy's version this time.
