VisionQuest

This VisionQuest weekend is a great opportunity for me to post my drawing in expectation of this new Marvel show that's going to be released on Oct 14.

It's the last part of the trilogy which includes WandaVision and Agatha All Along. During the weekend there are some creative art exhibitions with Marvel's twist on famous paintings,  props from the movies and sets, interactive elements etc., basically everything that has to do with Vision, Ultron and other characters.

This drawing is actually an older drawing of Vision I made, I just changed his original colours to white-ish and grey, like in the finale of [SPOILER]. I also expect for Vision and [SPOILER] to reunite, and [SPOILER] and [SPOILER] to meet for the first time, as well as the return of [SPOILER] in his human form. But we'll see, gotta keep myself spoiler-free until Wednesday, right? 😉

Mystique & Co.

I know the Nightcrawler's heritage story is a bit complicated because it has changed a couple of times, but I like the 2003 version with Mystique as his mother and Azazel as his father, so here they are!

Area 51 (2026)

One of my own quirky art challenges is keeping the memory of Storm Area 51 event (Sept 20, 2019) alive by drawing my avatar saving an alien from that secret facility each year.

So far I've "saved" a common green alien, a baby xenomorph and a facehugger, my favourite childhood alien Alf, then T. Ocellus from Alien: Earth and now ET!

And, no, nothing really happened on that day, it all ended as a music and art festival in the middle of the Nevada desert and an Internet meme.

Nightwing (Batman Day 2026)

For this year's Batman Day (the third Saturday of September) I chose the next best thing, Dick Grayson (Robin, later Nightwing and eventually the next Batman).

B'Elanna Torres

Here's my entry for Star Trek Day (which was actually two days ago, on September 8). For this year's drawing I chose one of my most favourite characters from Star Trek: Voyager - Lt. B'Elanna Torres, a Klingon-Human hybrid, ex-Maquis, later a Chief Engineer on the starship USS Voyager.

My 10th artyversary

This month is special because 10 years ago, around this time, I decided to take my creative hobbies more seriously  and started this GRDI "brand". In the beginning I tried with different art techniques, such as pencil, ink, papercraft, collage, polymer clay, cosplay accessories... but somehow mostly digital art stuck.

I'm not complaining, it was fun narrowing the overcrowded field and searching for my own style, changing drawing tablets and programs until I ended up here where I am right now.

And just to be honest, this wasn't my first try, but I guess whatever I'd been doing before wasn't that serious. Instagram opened new possibilities and for a relatively short time everything seemed right. That is, until they changed it to a video app flooded with a ruthless algorithm. Today's abomination of Instagram doesn't seem that important anymore and it's even less artist friendly, especially because of the rise of AI, but that's another story.

Anyway, happy 10th artyversary to me! 🥳
