Area 51 (Redraw)

"Storm Area 51" was an unusual event that took place on September 20, 2019. The idea was to gather people who'd raid the secret military base in the Nevada desert and find out the truth about aliens, but it ended as a music festival and an Internet meme.

One of the jokes was to help aliens escape Area 51, so I started my own art challenge where my avatar saves a different alien each time, mostly recognizable creatures from pop culture. So far I've "saved" a common green/gray alien, a baby xenomorph with a hatching facehugger, Alf and T. Ocellus from the show Alien: Earth.

And this is actually a redraw of my original 2019 drawing, because I wanted to make it more similar to my other "alien rescue" works, as I found my drawing style later and continued drawing that way. You can still find the original in my gallery if you scroll far enough. 😉

The 2026 version is yet to come in September, of course. I'm planning to keep this art trend alive and there's plenty of comic book, TV and movie aliens to save! 👽

Defenders (Marvel)

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 comes out today (March 24), so here's my contribution to the hype: a drawing of Defenders (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist) in their comic-(almost)-accurate costumes.

We know Jessica is definitely in the new season, but it would be nice to see the whole gang again, at least as a surprise team-up in the last episode, because Daredevil will need all help he can get against Kingpin... but that's just my wishful thinking. Judging by the trailer, it seems we're in for another treat either way. 🏆

As for my drawing, some of you might have guessed it's not completely new. Daredevil is a modified drawing from 2021 and Iron Fist is from 2022. Only Jessica and Luke are new.

Gwenpool

Inspired by my last week's Spider-Gwen, I decided to draw Gwenpool... well, not exactly Gwen Stacy, but Gwen Poole, but it gets more confusing, so I won't bother you with the whole story. This Marvel's character was very popular and all over my feed a few years ago, but I'm not sure what's happened to her in the meantime. And yes, we're talking about comics here, so I don't believe we'll see her in any live adaptations soon.

She comes from some kind of a pocket universe where Gwen became, let's  say, Deadpool (there's actually more to this story, but let's leave it at that for the time being). I don't really see her storyline in the MCU... or maybe, just maybe as a cameo in another Deadpool movie? And, in a way, her behaviour reminds of DC's Harley Quinn, which could be confusing if you're a typical movie-goer and not a comic buff.

Arrowverse Joker

"Arrowverse" Joker from the 3rd season of Batwoman for the last day of February. I drew the first version exactly four years ago and somehow felt the need to return to the character.

The third season revolves around the fact that many "cursed" items that belonged to classic Batman's villains got lost from his cave and kind of keep bringing back some of the iconic troublemakers such as Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy or even Joker. The show may not have been very good, but they did this story arc brilliantly in a nostalgic Tim Burton's Batman way.

The "new" Joker was Batwoman's (Javicia Leslie) half-brother Marquis (Nick Creegan), which made it more interesting. I didn't change much about his looks, although a green and purple scheme would be more "traditional". I drew some of the clothes he was wearing when he first appeared, plus some details from previous Jokers, and it was fun experimenting with different colours.

The idea for the pose came from Jason Fabok's works and action figures made by McFarlane Toys. I tried to make it mine as much as possible and unlike some of my recent works, I'm 100% happy with how it turned out.
