COTM - November 2021

I came across an interesting art challenge and although it's created for markers and not digital drawings, I couldn't resist to draw something with their suggested palette for November.

The challenge is by Universe Of Markers and it's called Colors of the month. I liked their choice so much that I decided to draw something with my regular palette for my avatar (light skin tone, brown, orange and green) and then I used their colours for some kind of a lighting effect, especially the three pale tones (fog, icicle and frozen pond). I'm not sure what kind of light source would produce this kind of effect, but I wanted to experiment and I believe it turned out pretty good. The fourth one, red (or cranberry), is for the base colour of the door.

What do you think? I hope they create the lighting illusion I had in mind. 😉

My Spidersona 2021

I know the Spidersona art challenge is a couple of years old, but since Spider-Man is one of my most favourite superheroes, I often think of redesigning my original drawing or even expanding my own little Spider-verse.

And now here it is, a new version! I changed the design a little bit (mostly the mask), but kept my original colour palette. I also kept the wooden utility pole, because as I mentioned last time, I live in a relatively small town and these poles could be the only way of my "transport" as a local Spider-Man. 😄

Another reason why I decided to redraw it now is to write something about the ongoing new Spider-Man movie craze (No Way Home). Of course I can't wait to see it, but it's WandaVision all over again - fans fabricating theories and artists drawing unofficial posters that eventually turned out false and disappointed a lot of people. So, as far as I'm concerned, no new trailers, no crazy predictions about the plot, characters and actors, stop adding to the unrealistic hype and just wait for the damn movie. ❤ 🕷

The Soundlovers (Happy Halloween!)

I tried to continue with my personal Spooktober drawings, but it's become clear I won't be able to draw everything I've planned. This will have to be my Halloween post, so - Happy Halloween! 🎃

This drawing is inspired by a 90's music video "Run Away" (1996) performed by a Eurodance project/band The Soundlovers. The video itself is pretty creepy (a woman kills men and she and her helper perform some kind of taxidermy on them) and my first intention was to draw a scary, almost gory drawing, but I decided to redraw it and here's the more "toned-down" version. I just wasn't sure if the original drawing would be OK for social media such as Instagram.

As for the Soundlovers, it was a music project that consisted of three Italian producers: DJ Molella, Phil Jay, Roberto Santini, and two singers : Nathalie Aarts and German Leguizamon. But the performer I drew is actually another band member, Kim Gallina, who appeared in their two first videos, "Run Away" and "People", but sadly died in 1999. Their other hits were "Another day", "Surrender", "Mirando el mar" and "Walking" and they still bring me back in time whenever I hear them. 🎵

Squid Game

I know Squid Game isn't a horror show, but it can be scary, shocking and gory at times, plus there are so many costumes that can be cosplayed or turned into Halloween costumes, so I put it on my Spooktober list and drew some kind of fanart.

One of my biggest phobias is ranidaphobia - the fear of frogs (or more precisely toads), so what would happen if during the red light/green light game one of them hopped in front of me while I'm supposed to be standing still? You guess it easily - it would definitely be game over for me as I would start to panic, shake, scream and try to run away in horror. 😔

I can't explain the reason for this phobia. I'm OK with other amphibians, even reptiles or spiders, but when it comes to toads, my soul is sooo ready to leave my body. To conclude, for me no game from the show would be scarier than a sudden appearance of a simple small harmless frog. 😱 Do you have similar irrational fears?

Black Spot (Zone Blanche)

As this is considered to be the spookiest month, I decided to work on some Halloween-esque drawings. 🎃 I already have a few (hopefully) interesting ideas.

The first drawing is about the French-Belgian supernatural TV show Black Spot (Zone Blanche) where three detectives - Lauréne, Teddy Bear and Franck - investigate mysterious cases in a small town of Villefranche. The town is surrounded by a dark forest, so if you're into mysteries, horror and thriller, this show might be for you.

And yes, there is a cryptic creature, a cute guinea pig (Teddy Bear's pet) and some ominous crows, so I included them in my drawing too. 😉
