Captain Marvel

Here's my version of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel. I used some elements from the MCU, some from the comics and also added some of my favourite features (it's mostly that wavy cloth thingy - I know, even in the comics it's not that long, but I find it very cool).

I must admit, last week was very stressful for me. I live for superhero stuff and never miss Marvel's and DC's movies, but the witch-hunt that preceded Captain Marvel's premiere was very brutal, depressing and uncomfortable and although I was hyped to see the movie, it shifted my attention to all that unnecessary negativity. I don't know why I constantly give in to reading comments and spoilers, I really have to find way to ignore them and stick to my own convictions.

As usual, all that stress was unnecessary in the end. It turned out to be pretty good and I had fun I usually have while watching similar superhero movies. I know it's mostly the same formula all over again, but it's exciting to see how this giant MCU story keeps developing even with such installments that weren't planned from the beginning. So, let's put torches, pitchforks and butthurt politics aside and watch this movie for what it's supposed to be - just another entertaining movie. 😉👍

DIY badge (Captain Marvel)

Here's my new DIY project, a badge I made for today's Captain Marvel premiere in my town.

The materials I used:
- a round wooden tag
- foam rubber (black and yellow)
- colour paper (red and blue)
- a black marker
- mod podge
- multi-purpose glue
- a pin
- a glue gun

As usual, it's a pretty simple project and I had a lot of fun making it. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to make more, so there'll be no giveaways like for Avengers and Star Wars this time.

Happy International Women's Day! 🌹

Spider-Gwen

I've finally seen Into the Spider-Verse, which is a very good excuse for me to continue drawing Spider-Persons. 😀 This time it's Spider-Gwen, and although I've drawn her twice so far while I was testing watercolour pencils, this time I wanted to draw a complete digital illustration. Initially I had a more dynamic pose in mind, but then I used one of my poseable art figures.

ZOOcuppations: Lifeguard / Opossum

This is my first illustration for my new watercolour pencils project "ZOOccupations". I used the Custom Generator option in Jazza's Arty Games app to create random combinations of animals (100 entries) and jobs (60 entries). This time the random combo was Lifeguard / Opossum.

Here's some WIP. I used a pencil to draw the illustration lightly, then made some kind of lineart using watercolour pencils. Then I coloured the drawing and used a water brush (with a container for water instead of the holder) to activate the pigment of the pencils. I had to continuously reapply pencils and brushes to get the effect I wanted. Finally, when everything dried, I used a 0.1 fineliner to draw the lineart.

As for the Arty Games application, I'm very satisfied with the Custom Generator feature:

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, it was fun to draw with watercolour pencils again and I'm looking forward to the next challenge! 😂👍

My Spidersona

Finally it's time for my Spidersona! Spider-Man has always been one of my most favourite superheroes and this challenge is a great way to imagine myself in his shoes. I don't have a catchy superhero name, but I tried to present some things and features that define me... to some extent, at least.

One of my most favourite pieces of clothing has for years been my olive green/orange hoodie, so I used these colours for my "spidersuit". I also wear a lot of black and dark grey. I hate cramming things into my pockets, so I usually wear some kind of a bag. In this illustration it opened by accident and some things that I like or usually carry fell out: my glasses, mobile phone, a bottle of cola, a chocolate bar, pills and vitamins, a pack of tissues, a pen etc. And there's also a matching baseball hat, I believe I have quite a collection and I rarely leave my flat without one of them.

I'm pretty tall and heavy, so the spider silk can barely support my weight (you can see it snapping in the middle) and I live in Osijek, which is the 4th largest city in Croatia, but according to European or American standards still a pretty small town with a few blocks of 12-storey buildings, so I mostly have to use numerous power lines to move around.

Sooo... It's your friendly neighborhood... Spider-Esseker? No? Well, I tried. 😁

P.S. Essek = Osijek 😉
