Doctor Who Day (Fall 2025)

 Happy Doctor Who Day! On 23rd November, 1963, the very first episode of Doctor Who was broadcast on BBC, so now this date is celebrated among fans.

It turns out I was a fan before I knew it, because I remember watching an interesting sci-fi show in the 80s about a man with curly hair and a long scarf, fighting robots and robotic... rats? 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, only in 2005, during the Doctor Who revival, did I realize it was actually that show, with the fourth Doctor Tom Baker fighting Cybermen and Cybermats in the 1975 episode "Revenge of the Cybermen". 👍

So, I decided to post something on this day, but I didn't draw anything new. Instead of that, I redesigned an old drawing from 2018 (OK, maybe the face and some other features). It was part of some kind of a fall art challenge and apparently I drew myself wearing the Doctor Who scarf (which I still have!), so I guess that should be enough to celebrate this day. Unlimitwins (Grdiverse)

The next good guys or superheroes and Davorachnid's friends in my Grdiverse project are siblings Ryan and Aryn, called Unlimitwins, who share a similar superpower - sound manipulation. While Aryn can use her voice to turn vibrations into a powerful force, Ryan can amplify any sound into the same force, from simply snapping his fingers to hitting his metallic batons during a fight.

I found my inspiration in one of my favourite bands from the techno/dance or Eurodance era, "2 Unlimited" from Belgium. They had many hits in the 90s, so you may have heard their techno anthem "No Limit", which was number one on the UK Singles Chart for several weeks in 1993, or "Get Ready For This", which is often played even today during sport matches (especially basketball), as well as in sport-related movies.

2 Unlimited performs even today, but with a different act: Ray is still here, but Anita isn't, so other vocalists take her place (for the time being it's Michèle). Although they've had many memorable costumes during their career, I chose the latest one for my drawing because of the cool colour palette. And the poses are from @posearchives again, because they remind me of the characteristics I'd like my OCs to have: Anita was definitely The Voice, and Ray had similar dance moves like fighting.

Evil Queen

Apparently, Disney has decided to limit appearance of villains in its parks and make them seasonal characters, which has started some interesting fan theories. One of them is about an employee, an actress whose remarkable performance as the Evil Queen made her fans' favourite and a star of social media. In short, it seems like she played her role a little too well.

Although this role made her famous, she's also played Maleficent, Agatha Harkness and Cinderella's stepmother, which isn't unusual because most of the cast members play different roles. But she was so unforgettable that it didn't take long for fans to find out her real name and her private TikTok account.

What makes her stand out in her roles - especially as the Evil Queen - is the way she easily adapts to her characters,  she's witty and replies quickly. She's great with children and also knows how to approach children with disabilities - all of that while staying in the character! Many people wanted to visit the parks she was performing at and look just for her.

But there are also some downsides, such as people feeling offended by some things she says (although I wouldn't say she oversteps the boundaries of her role) or the constant comparison with the role Gal Gadot played in the Snow White movie that flopped, saying she should've been in the movie or maybe get a raise for her work in Disney parks. I guess all that publicity made her appear too often on the Disney's "naughty list". As I'm writing this, it's not certain what her status is right now - some say she even got fired.

Meanwhile, you can enjoy her witty replies and one-liners such as "Cut!", "Peasant!", "Well... they lied!", "La bruja! La reina, ay!" etc. or join online petitions to reinstall her as the Evil Queen. BTW, I came across her social media accounts too, but I won't be sharing them. If only a part of this is true, it's a shame she's being punished for doing her job too well.

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! 🎃

As you can see, my Halloween illustration from 2019 keeps getting more and more crowded! Little by little, I've been adding new characters to my original drawing. There's no real plan, just my curiosity to see what I can do next with this idea.

At that time, I was inspired by Josiah 'Jazza' Brooks's art challenge called "After The Horror". The theme was to draw what famous monsters and villains do when the cameras turn off. My idea was to show Freddy, Michael and Jason waiting for a phone call about possible new sequels of their horror franchises.

And then I started adding more and more horror legends so it became my own challenge to continue updating it from Halloween to Halloween. The latest additions are Billy the puppet (Saw), Samara (The Ring) and a xenomorph with an egg and a facehugger (Alien).

Evil Bosses 2025

Happy National Boss's Day (Oct 16)! I guess even villain masterminds can have their day, so here are three evil bosses from my Grdiverse project, the so-called RIT team.

Expeditor, or simply "Boss", is the oldest. Legend says that he started off as a human but was eventually transformed into a slug-like creature. He's intelligent and has significant connections in both the government and the criminal underground. He represents the letter "I" (for "indulgence") in the RIT team. I found the inspiration in Jabba The Hutt from Star Wars.

Litterer, a.k.a. Tox, puts the letter "T" in the name of the RIT team (for "toxicity"). He carries some kind of a machine on his back that mixes different kinds of waste into a toxic liquid, and he uses it in his fights against superheroes. He's stubborn, toxic and quick-tempered, difficult to have a conversation with. He might not seem to be the boss material, but he's the force to be reckoned with nevertheless. He's partly based on Bane from DC Comics.

Dr Anemonica, or shorter "Mona", is the youngest but the fiercest among them. She's very ambitious, extremely intelligent, success-driven, and ruthless on her way up the crime ladder (she puts "R" in RIT for "ruthlessness"). I found inspiration in Olivia Octavius or Doc Ock from the Spider-Verse, but also in evil Queen Vanda from Sport Billy, one of my favourite childhood cartoons. 

And there's their devoted helper with his own powers, Aresmo, one of Mona's experiments. He's actually a manifestation of souls of her loyal subjects who she used to create this ghostly entity. Even in the form of a ghost leprechaun, they try to help her with her evil plans.

Davorachnid Summer 2025

I haven't drawn any interaction between Davorachnid and the Grdiverse villains so far, so this is the closest to their fight you can get for the time being. And by "fight" I mean him swinging away from the danger. 🤣

This version of Davorachnid is my latest drawing, but Dr Anemonica and Aresmo are from 2023. I haven't drawn any new poses of these two, I just keep recycling the original drawing. I believe it's the third time in two years. 🤔 Well... this should change, maybe even next week. Stay tuned!

In this illustration, Davorachnid is wearing a T-shirt and shorts because I still can't let go of the summer, and it seemed a good idea to draw a summer variation of his usual costume.
