For this little Halloween project I was inspired by Josiah 'Jazza' Brooks's art challenge called "After The Horror". The theme was to draw what famous monsters and villains do when the cameras turn off and my idea was to show some of them waiting for a phone call about possible new sequels of their horror franchises.
It started with Freddy, Michael and Jason, but after some time I decided to add three more characters each time. I skipped some years, but here are all of them so far:
2019: Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Michael Myers (Friday the 13th) and Jason Voorhees (Halloween)
2023: Chucky (Child'sPlay), Pennywise (IT 2017) and Ghostface (Scream).
2025: Billy the puppet (Saw), Samara (The Ring) and a xenomorph with an egg and a facehugger (Alien).
2026: Slimer (Ghostbusters), Dark Nurse (Silent Hill) and Slender Man (Slender Man).
Another new thing is the background. I've always imagined it to be happening in some kind of big old room, something like a Dracula's castle and here's a part of it. But drawing it was quite a challenge. 😮💨 I basically drew one half of it, copied it and reversed it before colouring. It was more of an architectural assignment than a drawing pleasure. 😄 And not to mention the details such as candelabras and the chandelier...
UPDATE: Sooo... it started with a room and then I decided to redraw the armchair, the stool with the phone (without a cord, yes) and the rug... it took me way too much time to explore all the references and now I'm late with posting. 🤷♂️ But I hope it was worth it.
