Here's my OC Quickscanner, one of the first entries in my rogues' gallery for my Grdiverse project. I was inspired by everyday situations, in this case by overzealous cashiers who became hilarious Internet memes because of the way they would handle products while you're desperately trying to put them in your shopping bag. And now, two years later, I decided to redraw and redesign this character.
Maybe it's not directly related to the issue, but one of the reasons behind this idea was the yesterday's shopping boycott in Croatia because of abnormally high prices. It was actually the fourth boycott (it had been decided to be every week on Friday), but it also turned out to be the last one. 🤔 Everything started very promising a month ago, for a moment it looked like we're finally standing up for our rights, but during that period it became obvious that more and more people decided to give up and yesterday was the weakest response ever. 😞 And as it was supposed to be the first "economic blackout" in the USA and some other countries too, our failure seemed even more disappointing. But that's us... nothing new. 🤷♂️ Apparently, we couldn't give up our habits so eventually not much has changed. The prices didn't go down and I bet this whole "inconvenience" will soon be forgotten.
Now, I know cashiers aren't responsible for all that and they're just doing their job, but this character was the closest to anything related to commerce, shopping etc. and an opportunity to redraw and maybe redesign my OC. As some of you may know, she's a speedster who can throw items at incredible speed so as you can see, she can also weaponize loyalty and gift cards and use them against our superheroes. It's something like The Flash meets Gambit, but a villain.
