So, the second season of Batwoman is over. Does anyone watch this show? Or even more importantly, does anyone like or at least tolerate it? 🤔
I'm asking that because many people roll their eyes when they hear about it. And I should be honest, the first season was a bit disappointing, especially because of Alice/Beth. She had too much screen time and was very annoying, although Rachel Skarsten actually did amazing job (her role reminded me a lot of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn). So I guess the problem was the writing.
And then, one of the things they did right - casting Ruby Rose as Kate Kane - went wrong (or at least it seemed at the moment). She left the show and many things about the second season had to be rewritten to adapt them to the new Batwoman, Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder. Surprisingly enough, it all worked out and I actually liked this season! Even Alice wasn't such a nuisance anymore - her new storyline was much better and even made her likeable.
But feel free to take this with a grain of salt, because I have a soft spot for the Arrowerse and CW dramas and to be honest, for me it's the closest TV representation of the classic Batman and the 90s Gotham-esque lore we have at the moment (yep, somehow I keep ignoring the TV show Gotham). At the end we finally got Batwing, Ryan got rid of Kate's shadow and fully became the Batwoman, plus there are some new versions of classic Batman's villains on their way, so I'm not ashamed to say I'm looking forward to the third season.
